The Community-led design group looks forward to 2018 being the year that ‘Ponsonby Park’ is funded so development can finally begin on our unique and much-needed civic open space for Ponsonby. It will provide a space for our very own farmers market and live music and events, whilst at the same time deliver a place to enjoy lunch, meet up with friends or simply sit and watch the world go by under a shady tree.
The impressive whole of the site LandLAB design, chosen by the community, provides for all of this and much more. It will also help protect the beautiful Waitemata harbour by reducing stormwater overflows through the provision of green-roof gardens, permeable surfaces and a swale.
It will be big enough for the site to be energised and activated with events, yet still be a relaxing and peaceful haven in the middle of bustling Ponsonby at the same time.
The ‘Long-term plan’ goes out for public consultation 28 Feb – 28 March 2018 and this will be our chance to show our support and desire for the whole of the site LandLAB design for our civic open space, ‘Ponsonby Park’.
